2010 Seoul Tango Festival - Milongas

Thursday Welcome Milonga

Date & Time: 4/29 (Thu) 9pm~1am

We open the festival and warmly welcome our maestros and all guests at El Bulín Tango Studio, the home base of Seoul Tango Festival. The maestros will greet us with an improvised performance. Please don’t hesitate to reconnecting with old friends and start meeting new ones!

Friday Johnny's Retro Milonga

Date & Time: 4/30 (Fri) 9pm~2am
Venue: El Tango Café
DJ: Emily (Hong Kong)
Dress code: 30’s Retro

Our host of the evening is Johnny, a Korean milonguero well-known for his passion for coffee and tango. The dress code is retro - we look forward to seeing your best 30’s outfit and hairdo! There will be a 25-minute international dancers show, and cocktail, coffee, and dessert will be served throughout the evening.

Saturday Grand Milonga

Date & Time: 5/1 (Sat) 9pm~3am
Venue: Samjung Hotel
DJ: Federico (Pohang)
Dress code: Formal

The main milonga of the festival will take place at the spacious and elegant Samjung Hotel. The highlight of the evening is a breath-taking 30-minute Tango show by our maestros. A light buffet and refreshments will be served, and we will be dancing till 3am in the morning!

Sunday Singles Milonga

Date & Time: 5/2 (Sun) 9pm~3am
Venue: RingoPop
DJ: Carlos (Seoul)

In this milonga we will follow the traditional code of the singles’ milongas in Buenos Aires. Men and women will be seated in separate and facing sections. This is the perfect occasion to practice “cabeceo” (inviting dances by eye contact) and try to dance with dancers from all over Asia and beyond!

Monday Farewell Milonga

Date & Time: 5/3 (Mon) 9pm~
Venue: Tango O Nada
DJ: Lola (Seoul)

The last milonga of the festival will take place at Tango O Nada, the oldest and most established tango bar in Seoul. Please come enjoy an evening with a familiar and friendly atmosphere. Say farewell to your new friends by sharing a few more tandas of beautiful tango music. The maestros will entertain us once again with their improvised dances.

Saturday Afternoon Odile's Milonga

Date & Time: 5/1 (Sat) 2pm-6pm
Venue: El Bulín
DJ: Kitty (Hong Kong)

This milonga offers a casual atmosphere for you to spend a relaxing and lazy tango afternoon with your friends. You can also shop for tango shoes, fashion, and jewelry in the adjacent tango market. This milonga is organized by Mool & Odile, the creator and designer of Odile Tango Shoes.

Sunday Afternoon Milonga “Scent of Tea”

Date & Time: 5/2 (Sun) 2pm-6pm
Venue: El Bulín
DJ: Yeong (Busan)

Your hosts of this milonga are Federico & Selene, a couple who promotes and teaches tango in the southern city of Pohang. Selene is a also a certified instructor of Korean tea ceremony. She will serve traditional Korean tea and snacks. Please come enjoy a comforting afternoon with a Korean flavor!
